A Child's Prayer

Normally I do not add extra blogs during the day, but my dad sent me an email and I just had to share it here. It touched my heart and made me think about my life. It reminds me of the day to day in our house.

Dear God, are You still awake?Have You got a minute or two?
You're pretty good at understanding,And I really need to talk to You.
You see, Mommy came to tuck me in,Like she does every night.I was trying to play a trick on her,Since she can't see without the light.
I was going to close my eyesAnd pretend to be asleep. But when I heard her crying,I didn't dare let out a peep.
She started talking to you, God.Did You hear the things she said?Could You hear what she was sayingAs she stood beside my bed?
Why would Mommy be so sad?I wondered just what I had done,And then I began to rememberit all As she named them one by one...
This morning we worked in the garden,But, honest, I really didn't knowThat if I picked all those little yellow bloomsThe tomatoes wouldn't grow!
Charlie and I were trying to be helpers,'Cause I know that's what Mommy needs,But I don't think she was too happy with uswhen we pulled up carrots instead of weeds.
Mommy said we should stop for the day,she decided we had helped quite enough.I sure had worked up an appetite...I didn't know gardening was so tough!
we had peanut-butter and jelly for lunchand I shared too much, I guess...But I didn't realize until I was donethat Charlie had made such a mess.
Mommy said she needed a nap,she had one of her headaches today. She told me to keep an eye on my sisterand find something quiet to play.
Well, God, do You remember all those curlsyou gave my little sister Jenny? We played barber shop...very quietly...and now, well, she doesn't have any.
Boy, was Mommy mad at me...I had to go sit on my bed.She said never to cut "people hair" again.I guess I'll practice on Charlie instead.
We sat and watched poor old Albert,I just knew he must be so boredGoing round and roundin the same place all day,Wouldn't You think so, Lord?
I didn't think it would hurtto let him out for a while.I mean, mice need exercise, too.By the way, have You seen Albert lately? He's been sort of missing since two.
Mommy sent us outside for the rest of the day.She said we needed fresh air.But when Daddy came home she told himhe was trying to get something out of her hair.
We thought Mommy needed cheering up,so we decided to brighten her day. But, God, did You see the look on her faceWhen we gave her that pretty bouquet?
We had gotten a little bit dirty,so Mommy said to get in the tub."Use soap this time," she reminded,"and please don't forget to scrub."
Charlie didn't like the water too much, but I lathered up real good.I knew Mommy would be so proud of meFor cleaning up like I should.
I went downstairs to the table, but during dinner it started to rain...I'd forgotten to turn off the water, it seems, and I hadn't unplugged the drain!
I decided right then it was just about timeto start getting ready for bed,When Mommy said, "It's sure been a long day," And her face began turning all red.
I lay there listening to Mommyas she told You about our day.I thought about all of the things I had doneand I wondered what I should say.
I was just about to tell herthat I'd been awake all along,And ask her to please forgive mefor all of those thing I'd done wrong.
When suddenly, I heard her whisper,"God, forgive me for today...For not being more understandingwhen those problems came my way...
For not handling situations in the wayYou wanted me to...for getting angryand losing my temper,Things I know You don't want me to do.
And, God, please give me more patience,Help me make it through another day,I'll do better tomorrow, I promise... In Jesus' name I pray."
Wiping her eyes, she kissed meand knelt here beside my bed.She stroked my hair for a little while..."I love you, precious," Mommy said.
She left the room without ever knowingThat I'd been awake all the time. And God, could we make it our little secret? You know, just Yours and mine?
I'm sorry I was so much trouble today,I really didn't mean to be...Daddy says it's tough being a kid sometimes, but I think it's harder on Mommy than me.
Well, goodnight, God. Thanks for listening. It's sure nice to know You're there.I feel so much better when I talk to You'cause You always hear my prayer.
And I'll do better tomorrow, I promise...Just You wait and see!I'll try not to be so much trouble again,But, God,please give more patience to Mommy......Just in case! Amen.

Mine as well know, the workout did not happen, that stupid DVD is still missing. When my room is clean today, maybe I will have found it. If not, then I either loned it out or, it is gone forever. If it is gone, I will have to invest in another. That dance DVD makes me feel like an elephant trying to do ballet. Oh well, such is life. Also, update: dinner tonight and dinner tomorrow are switched since Daddy's fav is cutlets and he just told me tonight he will be late coming home. Cutlets do not reheat well. At least I have a plan. Have a great day and stay motivated.

Another Day Another failure

OK, yesterday was a complete waste of air. The only thing accomplished was getting Moose his birth cirtificate. I did make egg salad for lunch too, but pretty much everything else went to pot. I am gonna try the same list as yesterday today for my todo's, including dinner since that did not happen either and that chicken is sitting in my fridge. I really need to work on getting stuff done the days Daddy ends up being home. The 2 of us spending time together seems to be my biggest downfall. Not that I am complaining that my husband actually enjoys spending time with me, I read so often and hear more often how husbands do not spend time with their wives and children, I am blessed and know it. Me, myself, and I need to work on keeping up with everything even when my man is around. I know this is a problem.

Wednesdays Update/ Thursday 10-23-08 To Do's

Well, Yesterday did not go according to plan, but then it never really seems to. I got about half my list accomplished, although you would never know I got any laundry folded and put away since I probably washed and dryed the same as I had time to fold. I never did completely finish the kitchen either. I would get half way and something would come up. I would have to make a meal and there it was right back where I started. I would have accomplished much more except poor Moose is sick now. He was such a cuddle bug yesterday crying if I even thought of putting him down. The Dr. called in some antibiotics for him too since we are pretty sure the Evil Mean Mommy Monster gave him strep throat. I feel so bad for him because I know what I feel like. I am however thankful that we caught his early and it did not progress like mine. Hopefully we saved him alot of pain and agony.
Ok, on to the dreaded list of the day:
1. get girls dressed and off to school
2. take mommy's medicine
3. make bed
4. start eggs for lunch/kids up/Moose medicated
5. clean kitchen/feed kids
6. put away clean dishes
7. slice bread
8. straighten living room
9. start a load of wash
10. peel eggs/make egg salad
11. straighten dining room
12. dress munchkins for town
13. pick up Bug
14. Lunch break/ medicate Moose & Momma
15. straighten kitchen/ take sauce from freezer to thaw
16. go get Mooses BC
17. Pick up WIC
18. start bread/slice chicken for dinner
19. start noodle dough
20. set table/let bread rise
21. make spaghetti noodles
22. bake bread
23. slice bread/add garlic butter
24.start cutlets
25. start noodles in water
26. start sauce
27. bake garlic bread
28. dinner break/Moose & Mommy Medicated
29. clean table
30. icecream w/ vanilla coating
31. clean table
32. clean kitchen
33. kids ready for bed
34. kids bedtime
35. Momma time
I know not a very big or good list today, but we have to drive like forever and a day to pick up that BC and I know I am still feeling a little under the weather with a sick baby who needs my time so I am trying to be realistic so I do not feel like a failure when I do not accomplish what I had in mind. Hope your day is roses, rainbows and sunshine. Hugs.

Ok, I intend to get all these things done, however, today i am high on perscribed steroids and feeling pretty danged good. Tomorrow those steroids will no longer be in my system so I am praying and hoping I still get it all done. I do not have as much listed as I normally would because I do not want to over do it to soon since the past 4 days I have been completely useless.Keep me on track my friends:)

10-21-08 Update

Well, I now know why I have felt so bad and gotten nothing done. It turns out I have a severe case of strep throat and there was more than a sore throat that made it hard to swallow. The Doctor said my tonsils were so swollen they were touching each other and rubbing when they were already irritated. Like everyone else he said he was amazed I was able to deal with the pain as long as I did. I know what a mean nasty lady I can be when giving birth and dealing with that pain, so these comments make me wonder, what do "normal people" do?
Makes me also wonder, do I need to step back and and take more sympathy for the children when they hurt themselves. As it stands, if you are not bleeding and nothing is broken, I tell them to be good little soldiers and suck it up. I hate whiney people and my kids will not be that way. Maybe that sounds cold to most of you. Maybe some of you are like, right on! I admit to being a drama queen at times, but real physical pain is not one of those times. I am the Queen of What ifs. I like to plan for every little detail that can happen both good and bad. If I am prepared for the worst, nothing can get me down, it will only get better. Besides, there is always someone out there with a life much worse than mine. Of course I do not like to hear whining, so unless I say how are you, I don't really care. OK enough of the soap box, I need to get me a detailed list going for tomorrow so you all can keep me on target to catching up. 4 sick days is more than any mom should ever take. Have a great day!!!

Tuesday 10-21-08

Well, yesterday I managed to bribe Nut into helping with some of the house work. I wish it was that easy with Daddy. I have an appointment with the doctor at noon. I think I have strep. The house will not be perfect for my appointment at 1, but it will do. My only hope is I am the only one that gets it. I can only pray that my babies do not have to go through this.

Monday 10-20-08

Well, do not expect alot from me today, Yesterday I was running a fever of 106.8 I slept almost all day long. Today, Daddy said to take it easy so, I am gonna take his advice. Normally Monday is my catch up from the weekend day and my bathroom day. The bathrooms are not gonna get done. The only catching up I am doing is to try to get the living room and dining room presentable. I am gonna make my sweet girls help me. Guilt trip if needed. So far today the only things I have gotten done is a shower, breakfast, and lunch. I did however make up a list of things I would like to accomplish. I will most likely not get back on to update until the morning, but u never know how I will feel later tonight.

Saturday 10-18-08

There is no To Do List for today, there should have been, but I forgot about a Halloween party Bug had to go to. She was soooo cute. She wore a white leotard with white tutu and a black fake leather jacket. I put really red lipstick on her and she said she was a bad biker ballerina. She picked out her costume and told me what she was gonna be. 5yr olds can be funny sometimes. After I dropped her off at the party, I took Moose, Jewel, and Nut to McDonald's to have lunch and play at the play place. I read a book. Finally, It was time to pick up Bug. After leaving the party, we went to Walmart and picked up a few of those multi section laundry hampers. I wish I had the money to buy at least one more hamper, but what I have will have to do. Some time between now and 5 I need to go back to town and pick up a cat kennel from a lady on freecycle. I only have one, but we have 2 cats and I want them both in kennels when we make the move in December. It is very unlike me, but I have no idea what is for dinner tonight. I am normally so organized with dinner plans. Maybe I will check my account and take them out somewhere while picking up the cat carrier. Oh well. I will most likely not be updating my blog tomorrow. Sundays are normally kinda hectic around here, add picking up daddy into the mix, and there is just no time. Do not look for blogs on most Sundays. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Instead of making spaghetti noodles, I made pizza crust and we had pizzas for dinner. The girls watched a movie before bed and Ding A Ling me stayed up till 1 am. I hate sleeping alone.

EOD 10-16-08

All in all I would say the day went well, everything on my list was accomplished except a few stores.Oh well, money saved till another day. I have numerous times set the alarm for 5am and always reset it not feeling up to dragging myself from the bed. I decided to give myself until 5:30 hoping an extra 30 minutes would improve the situation. I still did not want to get up, but it was a little easier. I drug my self out of my warm cozy bed, kissed my husband goodbye, and started the coffee. I did 20 minutes of a light workout and realized what an uncoordinated goober I really am. Dance is soooo not my thing, however all my Tybo workouts are on VHS and I broke the video player so I am stuck with DVD's that make me feel as ungracefull as one can imagine.
I was smart for the first time today when it came to the kitchen. Normally, ding-a-ling Momma cleans the kitchen and has it all bright and sparkly, opens the fridge and says "Oh No, I need to clean the fridge" I would clean out the fridge making the once pretty kitchen look like I never touched it. Today I had an AH HA moment and actually cleaned the fridge out before I started on the kitchen. I moved the microwave and cleaned under it which I am embarrassed to say was the first time in 6 months it had been done. I even organized the spice cupboard.
We had pasta salad and homemade bread with butter for lunch today. Bug and Jewel hated the pasta salad so I put a little PB on their bread and opened up the last jar of homecanned peaches the neighbor sent up. (last year we made plum jelly and they did peaches we shared so did they) Moose was soooo good today I forgot to put him down for a nap. Shame on me. After I did the dishes from lunch, I changed my clothes, and loaded the kids into the truck. Everyone in the entire world must have been payed today because here it was 1pm so everyone should be working, Yeah Right, that place was packed like it was Disney Land. The shopping that normally takes me 30 minutes took me an hour and a half. By the time I got the groceries payed for, everyone loaded in the truck, and the groceries into the truck, I had 45 minutes before Peanut was due home. It takes 15 minutes to drive home so all the other stores were sooo out of the question. I ended up getting the stuff I wanted from the $store at the grocery store, but I still need to hit Walmart sometime before the end of the weekend.
I got home started the dough for dinner rolls, and then put away the groceries. Dinner turned out great. Dessert was a big hit (cubed pieces of chocolate cake layered with chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream)
I did something I never ever do. I washed the dinner dishes immediately following dinner. I have a pretty kitchen to wake up to. I even figured out the timer on the coffee maker and will have hot coffee when I wake up. No work. Isn't that cool?
I thought I was done for the day, but Daddy has to leave town for a field excersise soo even after me getting on him all week to pack, he waited til the last minute and now wants my help, soooooo I will try to get my list up first thing in the morning or maybe later tonight. Have a great day.

Virgin Blogger

Well, this is my first time as a blogger, I always thought they were for people whining about their life, bragging about their accomplishments, or griping about political issues. After much reading, I came to the conclusion that there are more blogs about more things out there than one could possibly imagine. I know that my blog will probably not be read by many if any at all, but, I decided to make a record of my life. This may bore the snot out of some of you, but others I hope to inspire you, make you laugh, let you cry along with me, and maybe even learn a thing or two myself. I will post my To Do list Daily and at the end of the day, I will update what actually got done and what I never got to. Let's face facts, not everything can be done we hope to accomplish, I have many distractions in my life, none of which I would trade for all the chocolate in the world. I am more likely to accomplish my daily list as it is out there for the entire cyberworld to view.
Help motivate me and leave a comment or two. I will love hearing from you.
Looking forward to my first real post tomorrow, until then, have a great day.
